Hot July OOTD and makeup LOTD

Today is avery hot day...about 93 degrees! I'm going out with my fiance and friends to celebrate a friend's birthday tonight. I wanted my outfit to be cute, fashionable and most of all cool! About a month ago I boughta coral body con skirt but I didn't know what to pair with it, but today was the day for me to bring it out! I paired it with a cream lace top and gold sandals that I already had and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the end results! I've paired this look wit gold triangle stud earrings, gold rings, gold juicy couture necklace, and a cream and gold watch. Please comment and tell me what you think and how you would rock the look. Pics are below.

For my makeup today I wanted to keep it subtle and simple. I used soft nuetral tones on my lid. I used a subtle orange for a pop of color. On my cheeks I used a shimmery orange blush and a gold blush for highlight.

I swept my micro braids to the side and into a braid to keep my hair back and to keep me cool. Look at the pics below and let me know what you think!

Outfit of the Night (OOTN 3/24/12)

This past Saturday I was hanging out with my best friend Danielle. We planned to go out to a club that night and chill. Once we got to our friends house to change I didn't like my outfit and I had nothing to wear!!!! I was just going to stay in while they went out to party. Thank God for Danelle! She had a dress and shoes that I could wear! I still didn't go out after getting ready. We had too much fun at the apartment and I was tired, so I still stayed in while my friends went out. I still looked cute though.
I really loved this outfit! I really love the colors and the shoes were super comfortable, even though they were a little big around my ankle. My friends kept making fun of my because I could fill out the dress because of my lack of booty and cheat lol. But I made it work!

The dress was a simple cotton cut out dress from ASOS.
It is a pink coral color.
The heels are by Jessica Simpson. They are color blocked shoes with teal, coral and royal blue. Open toe.
The necklace is what really set this outfit off for me.
The necklace is from my bestie Danielle.
It's turquoise with black and cold accents to give it an antiqued look.

That was my outfit for ladies night (even though I stayed in lol). Very simple but very fashionable and stylish and still classy! Tell me what you think! Pictures are posted below, please comment, ask questions and subscribe!

Gold & Orange (3/26/12)

When I did this makeup look I had not planned on posting it on my blog. Once I finished I was so pleased with the results. This makeup look is very simple and subtle, but also very pretty. Everything that I used came from a makeup palette that a friend got me for Christmas. I've posted pictures of the shadows that I used. If anybody wants more information about the palette that is used just hit me up with a comment.

On my lid I used a golden color all per.
Next I applied a burnt orange color to the outer corner of my lid and took it above my crease.
I used a matte brown to define my crease and give the look more depth.
My top lash line is line with a black liquid liner and my bottom lash line is lined with a black pencil.

Big Blue Eyes

Two makeup post in one week! I am so proud of myself! LOL.

Today I decided to do a blue look to contrast with the green top I am wearing. I know that sometimes black woman are afraid of using blue eye shadow in fear of looking like a clown. Sometimes there may be an error of application or you may not know what shade of blue looks good on you. I hope that everyone who reads this will get something out of my post and EMBRACE THE BLUE!!!

I used L'Oreal HIP bright shadow duo Snowy.

1. I place the metallic teal all over my lid. I only took the color to my crease, not above it, with a medium eye shadow brush.
***after applying this color I used my blending brush to make the color less intense and blend it out a little***

2. I used a round shadow brush to apply the matte blue color on the outer corner of my lid. I took the matte blue slightly above my crease and 3/4 of the way in.

3. I used my blending brush to BLEND BLEND BLEND!

4. Then I highlighted my brows using a flat concealer brush and a champagne color. (Cover Girl quad country wood)

5. I lined my top lash line with a cobalt blue liquid eyeliner from e.l.f.

6. I lined my bottom lash line with black pencil eyeliner from n.y.c. I only took this line about 3/4 of the way in.

I used Cover Girl lash blast mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
On my face I used L'Oreal true match liquid and powder foundation in C7 nut brown.
On my cheeks I have a pink blush and a light highlight from the Victoria Secret hello, bombshell makeup kit.
As a contour I used a matte bronze powder from e.l.f.
For my brows I used Maybelline brown pencil in dark brown, Cover Girl single shadow in brown smolder, and Mary Kay full coverage cream foundation.

On my lips I have a Mary Kay lipstick in the color honey moon. It's a nude peach color. Some my eyes ate already very bold I want to do a more subtle lip.

Once I finished my makeup look I notice that it made my eyes look bigger! And it also made my natural eye color (brown) pop! I have really enjoyed the results of my look today! :D

Once again beautiful people for reading my blog! Please continute to read comment and subscribe! Be sure to stay tuned for more beauty, fashion and discussion post!

Please ask question, leave comments and send suggestions! Also please let me know what other makeup looks you would like to see in the future.

Spring has Sprung! Time to have fun with makeup (3/21/2012)

For a while now I have been keeping my makeup very neutral and natural. I have been using a lot of browns, golds and coppers for my eyeshadow. When I do use colors they are muted or dark. Today I decided lighten things up a bit! It is now officially spring, even though the weather has been very warm since the end of February lol. I decided that my makeup color palette should go along with the beautiful weather.

Today my eye shadow consist of a yellow gold, light teal and a colbalt blue. I concentrated most of the color on my lids and only took it a little to the crease.

1. I put the yellow-gold on the inside of my lid with a small shadow brush and swept it half way across.

2. Then I applied the light teal on the rest of my lid with a small round shadow brush, making sure to blend the 2 colors together.

3. To apply the colbalt blue I used a fluffy angled brush to apply this in my crease. I took this color about 3/4 of the way in.

3. Once all of the colors were applied I used a fluffy blending brush to blend, blend, blend!

5. I applied a champagne color as the highlight under my brow.

Since I was going for a bright spring look I added more pops of color with my eye liner. I lined my bottom lash line with an electric blue using a small flat liner brush. I lined my lid with a teal liquid eyeliner.

The rest of my makeup look is simple. I have a gold blush and a berry blush on my cheeks, a little bronzer for contour, mascara, foundation and powder.

I must say that while adding all of this color I was nervous because I haven't worn bright eye shadow in a long time! But today was my coming out party! LOL I embraced the bright colors and I really liked the end results.

I will have a list of the products that I used and of course there are pictures. So please comment and subscribe. And if anyone has any looks that they want to see let me know and I can post those. I may start doing makeup tutorials so be on the look out!

Thank you for reading my blog.

Spring Break OOTD

Ok so this is my first outfit of the day post ever! LOL I hope that it's a good post. I'm trying to live up to my self proclaimed fashionista status.
Today I'm just going out with my mom and then later tonight I'm hanging out with my whole family. I wanted to wear something cute but comfortable, something that I could wear all day. Keep reading and you will see what I decided to wear.

I chose a navy blue flowy top with bows around the neckline. This top is light and airy which is great for the 75 degree weather today. I got this top from Charlotte Russe last year.

The white pants I purchased from Forever 21 a few years back. I love these pants. They are pencil leg straight jeans with a lot of stretch. They are very functional and fashionable.

For my shoes I decided to where brown strappy wedge sandal. They have a cute ruffle detail that dresses up the outfit a little bit. And they are comfortable to boot! I know it's only March but it's too hot today to keep my toes in lol.

I'm wearing minimal accessories because I put details into my clothes.
I'm wearing oval gold hoop earrings that I borrowed from my mom.
The necklace I purchased from Charlotte Russe. It's gold with clear and pink stones. I'm also wearing gold bangles with pink beads for a pop of color, which I also purchased from Charlotte Russe.

This outfit would be great for a day of shopping or lunch and it would transition well into the evening for happy hour or a date with your love .

Please comment, ask questions, and give me feed back on the outfit and the post. I don't mind criticism and critiques. I want to get better. Let me know how or where you would rock this outfit.

Good Foundation

The key to great makeup is to have a good foundation to start with. A good foundation begins with taking care of your skin. Yes, everyone has different skin types, but there are 3 basic step that anyone can follow to take care of their skin. CLEANSE, TONE AND MOISTURIZE!

When cleansing your face it is important to be gentle, especially around the eye area because this is the most delicate skin on your face. When cleansing my face I use circular motions to help remove oil, dirt and makeup. I use an oil free cleanser for sensitive skin because my skin tends to be naturally oily and is easily irritated. For cleansing my face I alternate between a cream cleanser and an exfoliating scrub.

Whenever I use a toner or astringent I only use a small amount on a cotton ball or pad. A toner or astringents get deep into your pores to remove excess oil, dirt and makeup. It also helps to prevent future blemishes. Toner or astringent may not always be a necessary step for everyone. It can be drying sometimes so it is important to use as little product as possible. I use it mostly after I have been wearing makeup.

The last step to my daily skin regimen is moisturizer. I use a moisturizer that is oil free and contains an SPF of 15. No matter how fair or dark you are it is important to protect your skin from the sun. When applying moisturizer I only use a small amount because as I have stated earlier my skin is naturally oily. I apply moisturizer to my forehead, brows, cheeks and chin. I avoid applying moisturizer to my nose because it is the oiliest part of my face. I also avoid the eye area because this is the thinnest area of skin on the face and would absorb the product and cause my eyes to appear puffy.

Taking care of your skin is the most important step to applying makeup. The more you take care of your skin, the less makeup you will need to apply. This skin care regimen has kept my skin smooth and blemish free. I very rarely have pimples or breakouts. (knock on wood LOL). One last tip: it is a good habit to remove your makeup before going to bed. You can do this by wither washing your face or using makeup remover wipes. But if you forget every now and then it's not a sin! LOL ;)
